Community Involvement Connection

An airport doesn't exist in a vacuum. Though only a small percentage of any area's residents fly in and out of that area's airport, a much greater percentage of the residents benefits from some of those users.

Through the years, we have maintained relationships and offered our facilities to many groups that serve the public—the Red Cross, the Boy Scouts, Civil Air Patrol, Angel Flight, and the local Chamber of Commerce, among others.

Each season we host sports enthusiasts from around the District when our batting cages fill with super stars from the North Lake Tahoe Little League and the Truckee Little League and Babe Ruth teams.

And, since 1994, members of the local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) chapter have taught 90 young people from four area high schools about aviation through Project School Flight. A number of these kids, inspired by their experience at the Airport, have continued to pursue aviation coursework at the college level.
