    Hangar Revitalization Program

    The Truckee Tahoe Airport District launched a pilot Hangar Revitalization program in 2023 upfitting five hangars. The revitalization includes resurfaced concrete flooring, upgraded energy efficient LED lighting, a hanging snow shovel, Keep Clear striping, a Hazmat/Flammables Locker, an oily rag container, and spill mats.     Christmas Tree Recycling at KTRK

    Local Truckee residents have two options to Recycle their Christmas tree after the holidays with Curbside collection, or at a Drop-off location.  One Drop-off bin is located at the Truckee Tahoe Airport Rental Car parking lot on Truckee Airport Rd. through Jan 14th.  Click post heading for full details.

    Airport No Longer Clearing Martis Dam Rd.

    With maintained winter access to the new Martis Valley Trailhead, the Truckee Airport District will no longer be clearing Martis Dam Road for public access. The Northstar Community Services District (NCSD) under contract with Placer County will be clearing the Martis Valley Trailhead and trail, (off Hwy 267, right across from the Martis Dam Rd).  The trailhead has parking for up to 30 vehicles, covered seating, bathrooms and garbage receptacles. NCSD will plow the trail all the way to Autumn Way connecting to the Town's Legacy trail system.

    Fly Safe Fly Quiet Incentive Programs

    The Truckee Tahoe Airport Board of Directors voted to adopt significant changes to the District's Safety, Hangar, and Noise programs at their November 29, 2023 meeting. New Fly SafeFly Quiet and Hangar Revitalization programs were approved.  The Board also agreed to terminate the existing Home Basing program. These updates will take effect January 1, 2024.     Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

    The Truckee Tahoe Airport as part of its on-going Sustainability Campaign, has just installed two -ChargePoint+ electric vehicle charging stations in the terminal building's main parking lot. The stations are available  7am - 9pm daily.  The first two hours are free, then a $3/hr fee is charged.  The stations went live on 12/20/2023. Click post heading for more info.

    Safe Roof Systems

    The Truckee Tahoe Airport District  has 227 metal aircraft hangars located in 14 hangar rows.  Eight hangars were structurally damaged last winter ('22-'23) due to excessive snow loads after a record-breaking winter. Recently the airport installed Safe Roof Systems sensors in four of our hangar rows, A, D, E and H. The system continuously measures roof deflections and alerts airport staff when and where to safely remove snow and ice burden from the roofs. Click post heading for more info.

    KTRK Goes All-In on Sustainable Aviation Fuel

    Airport Improvement magazine article: Truckee Tahoe Airport (TRK) in California recently made a bold environmental move by changing from standard Jet A to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The general aviation airport started offering SAF several years ago, with a goal of gradually increasing the percentage sold to 100% by the end of 2023.     Runway 2 - KTRK's Truckee Friendly Departure Option

    With the reopening of Runway 2/20 we kindly remind our aviation community that the easiest way to reduce your impact on our Truckee neighborhoods (winds permitting) is by departing Runway 2. The noise abatement procedure off Runway 2, known as the Scales Departure is a straight out departure until abeam the Sewage Treatment plant then a left turn to the Truck Scales on Interstate 80.
